Mental Health Rehab Services at Agape Treatment Center
Mental Health-Specific Treatment Programs
Mental health conditions can negatively affect a person’s emotions, relationships, work, and overall health. And for some people, traditional outpatient talk therapies are not enough to help manage their symptoms alone. That is when mental health rehab services become a better treatment option. Mental health rehab centers offer structured treatment plans for people needing a higher level of care to achieve long-term recovery.
Programs offer evidence-based therapies and behavioral health resources and are designed to build a person’s coping skills and help them manage their symptoms and improve their daily functioning through a clinical environment of support. Listed below are the mental health conditions we treat. Click on each condition to learn more about how treatment works and what care might be involved.
What Are Mental Health Rehabilitation Centers?
Mental health rehab centers provide clients with the stable, consistent care necessary to manage their symptoms and regain control over their lives. They provide multi-level treatment to those experiencing mental health issues or continued mental health struggles, offering more structured support than standard outpatient talk therapy alone.
Treatment typically addresses managing symptoms, provides emotional and functional stability, and is delivered by licensed mental health professionals. Treatment may include individual therapy, group therapy, coordinating medication use, and using skill-building sessions.
Who Mental Health Rehab Services Are For
Mental health rehabilitation services are appropriate for people who:
- Experience continued symptoms that significantly impact their day-to-day life.
- Have not experienced improvement with standard outpatient therapy once a week.
- Require structured assistance managing mood, behavior, or thought patterns.
- Have a co-occurring substance use disorder and mental health disorder.
- Require continued care with integrated treatment plans.
Mental health rehabs provide treatment to adults and young adults with various mental health issues using a person-centered approach. The type of care they provide is based on each client’s history, symptoms, and level of functioning.
Mental Health Levels of Care at Agape Treatment Center
Agape Treatment Center offers three different levels of care to provide each client with the appropriate treatment intensity needed:
- Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP): Our Day/Night PHP program offers intensive treatment daily without requiring an overnight stay. PHP focuses on providing people with structured treatment during the day or evening, including therapy sessions, group therapy, and oversight by a clinician. The goal is to help those needing intensive care while still having the ability to function independently.
- Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP): These programs provide clients with structured treatment several days per week. IOP allows people to attend treatment while also meeting work, school, and family responsibilities through consistent mental health care.
- Outpatient Treatment: Outpatient treatment is ongoing support for people who find themselves stable and moving toward a long-term recovery and a life of well-being.
These levels of care allow the treatment plan to adjust according to the progression of symptoms.
Evidence-Based Approaches to Mental Health Treatment
Agape Treatment Center uses evidence-based treatment methods documented and verified through research in order to provide effective mental health care. Examples of commonly used evidence-based therapeutic techniques include:
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT will help clients identify and change unhelpful thinking and behaviors regarding the issues that cause emotional distress while helping develop practical coping strategies.[2]
- Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT): DBT will help people learn how to manage strong emotions and reduce impulsive behaviors by providing techniques that emphasize emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and being effective with interpersonal relationships.[3]
- Group Therapy: Group therapy provides a supportive and structured environment for clients to share their experiences and practice communication skills while learning from others who are struggling with the same issues related to their mental health.
- Family Therapy: Family members participate in the treatment process to improve communication, resolve family dynamics, and create a supportive network.
The above therapy approaches help you to understand thought patterns, emotion regulation, and healthy coping strategies. The evidence-based treatments above are also combined with holistic care to support the whole person, not just the mental health symptoms.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mental Health Rehabilitation
What is a mental health rehabilitation center?
A mental health rehabilitation center provides structured programming to support people who are struggling with a mental health issue. Mental health rehabilitation provides more support than traditional outpatient therapy because there is an emphasis on managing symptoms, emotional distress, and daily living through evidence-based counseling.
Can you go to rehab for your mental health?
Yes, mental health rehabilitation centers are designed to help support people who need help managing their mental illness, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and others. Mental health rehab is appropriate whenever the mental illness is affecting the person in their work, family, or life as a whole.
How long do people stay in mental health rehab?
Length of stay varies based on various factors, including the person’s circumstances, diagnosis, and level of care needed. Some clients will start in a more structured therapeutic program (day treatment program) and then progress to less structured care (IOP) and then to standard outpatient therapy as they achieve more confidence and stability.
How is mental health rehab different from a mental hospital?
Mental health rehab focuses on providing ongoing supportive therapy versus crisis stabilization. Unlike a mental hospital, mental health rehabilitation typically operates on a voluntary basis and is designed for people who do not require immediate crisis treatment but are looking for help to stabilize, return to long-term functioning, or manage active elements of a mental illness.
When should someone consider mental health rehab?
Mental health rehabilitation would be appropriate when symptoms have become difficult to manage with merely weekly outpatient therapy, daily life has been severely impacted by those symptoms, or the person requires coordinated care and a definitive plan for recovery.
